50-Degree Straight Blades

The MTC Large Router Plane stands apart from many others. Its blade is crafted from a straight, square section of HSS steel, set bevel-down at 50 degrees. The bevel exists only to relieve the cut, giving you a clean, efficient angle of attack for all trenching work - and a blade design that’s simple to sharpen.

Easy to Sharpen

Because the blades are made from a single piece of straight steel, sharpening is quick and straightforward. Just remove the blade, hone it like a mortise chisel, and reset it in the plane. No special jigs or equipment are required, and you’ll notice the boost in productivity right away.

A Range of Blade Widths

The MTC Large Router Plane comes standard with a 1/2in (12.7mm) blade. Additional blades are available in a variety of widths in both Metric and Imperial sizes.

M2 High-Speed Steel Blades

MTC uses M2 High-Speed Steel (HSS) for these blades. Known for its excellent abrasion resistance, M2 HSS keeps an edge much longer than many other steels. While it may take a little extra effort to bring the edge up initially, you’ll find yourself sharpening far less often—keeping your tools in action longer.
