50-Degree Straight Blades

The MTC Small Router Plane is designed differently from most others. Its blade is cut from a straight square section of HSS steel and set bevel-down at 50 degrees. The bevel is simply to relieve the cut, giving you a clean, efficient angle of attack for trenching work, and a router plane that’s very simple to sharpen.

Easy to Sharpen

Because the blades are made from a solid piece of straight steel, sharpening is quick and uncomplicated. Just remove the blade, hone it as you would a mortise chisel, and reset it. No need for special jigs or extra gear—keeping maintenance easy and your workflow steady.

A Range of Blade Widths

The MTC Small Router Plane comes with a 6.35mm (1/4in) blade as standard. Additional blades are available in both Metric and Imperial sizes to suit different woodworking needs.

M2 High-Speed Steel Blades

MTC blades are made from M2 High-Speed Steel (HSS). With excellent abrasion resistance, M2 HSS keeps its edge far longer than many other steels. While it might take a bit more time to bring up the edge initially, you’ll spend much less time sharpening overall—so your tools stay in use longer and your sharpening stones get a well-earned rest.
